Since 2008, Troublemakers has been producing films for brands and agencies, in animation and live action. In 2026, we launched Troublemakers Originals, a new chapter focused on original IP: feature films, animated series, documentaries, and hybrid fiction.

Whether it's a personal project or a commercial film, the approach is the same: 100% human creativity, built around the writer-director-producer trio, from the first spark of an idea through to release. Always with the same goal: finding the right techniques and the right artists to push each project as far as it can go. Live action, 2D and 3D animation, mixed media, stop motion, claymation, compositing, SFX and color grading, all under one roof.

At Troublemakers, we've had the pleasure of working with brands like Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef & Arpels, Riot Games, Welcome to the Jungle, Renault and Peugeot, as well as organizations like WWF and Amnesty International. We bring the same attention, the same sincerity and the same artistic standards to a luxury campaign as we do to a film for an NGO. Every project is treated as a one-off, because no two are quite alike.

TROUBLEMAKERS WAS BUILT AGAINST THE GRAIN, CHOOSING RISK OVER COMFORT. A DELIBERATE, UNAPOLOGETIC INDISCIPLINE.

Troublemakers Originals was born from a desire to tell our own stories, developed over time, with writers and directors we follow from one project to the next. Whether we're working with Arte, Canal+, Ushuaïa TV or TF1+, the formats and tones change, but our values don't. Stay close to the artists, keep our curiosity alive, and say no to artificial intelligence. Documentary or fiction, truth always comes first.

And because we love anything that blurs the lines, we also develop brand content and brand entertainment projects: films that aren't built around a product, but carried by a brand's identity and what it stands for.

  • FOUNDER / CEO / PRODUCER

    James Hagger

James Hagger is a producer and the founder of Troublemakers. He sees production as a space for dialogue between storytelling, craftsmanship and artistic rigour. Trained in London in the late 1990s as an assistant director on feature films, he worked alongside Nick Love, Kevin Reynolds, Christian Volckman and Harmony Korine – formative experiences that have had a lasting influence on his perspective.

In 2008, he founded Troublemakers in Paris to produce animated advertising films, with a constant focus on narrative clarity, precision in production and the accuracy of directorial choices. The studio supports brands seeking images that are spot on, crafted with precision, and capable of conveying a clear and lasting message.

Alongside his work as a producer, James is actively involved in the industry. He sits on the judging panels for several international awards, from D&AD to the Club des D.A., and lectures at Gobelins and New3dge. He chairs the Animation Committee of the UPC. He served as vice-president of the EPA, the trade association for advertising producers representing over 900 companies across Europe. He represented France at the G20 YEA in 2024 and is currently a mentee at the Institut du Mentorat Entrepreneurial, a programme dedicated to leaders of fast-growing SMEs.

  • PRODUCER

    Robin Noël

Robin Noël began his career in feature films alongside Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, assisting them at Quad Films on international hits such as Intouchables and Samba. Trained in screenwriting, he places narrative at the heart of his approach — for him, producing starts with understanding the deeper mechanics of a story: its structure, rhythm, and truth. He later moved into advertising and produced numerous campaigns for clients like LVMH, L’Oréal, Orange, and the Abbé Pierre Foundation, working within the creative agency Havas Paris.

His journey took him to New York, London and Bangkok, where he refined his visual culture and developed a deep interest in 2D and 3D animation, hybrid storytelling, and experimental formats. In 2020, he joined Troublemakers Originals with the desire to develop long-format projects at the intersection of genres — blending fiction, animation, and documentary. Today, he focuses on stories that explore grey zones, personal fractures, and imaginative reinventions. Robin shares with James Hagger a common ambition: to produce work that shifts boundaries, both in form and content, with the rigor of auteur cinema and the freedom of a narrative playground.

  • CO-FOUNDER / PRODUCER

    Jean Méranger-Galtier

Jean Méranger-Galtier is a producer, co-founder, and head of writing supervision at Troublemakers. After studying screenwriting at Paris-Nanterre University, he joined KABO Family as a literary assistant, where he notably contributed to the writing of the series L’Île aux trente cercueils.

He went on to refine his perspective by working as a script reader for several production companies and broadcasters, developing strong expertise in dramaturgy. Based in Paris, he co-founded the Troublemakers Originals team in 2022, where he oversees the development of long-form projects, including documentaries, animated series, and fiction. He works closely with writers throughout the narrative development process, combining high standards with a supportive approach and a strong interest in hybrid forms and stories from the margins.

Alongside his production work, Jean is deeply involved in film and media education. He leads training programmes, develops educational tools, and works with institutions such as the CNC, Normandie Images, and Les Cahiers du Cinéma. He is also a writer for several animated series for children, broadcast in France and internationally, with a particular interest in sensitive stories rooted in their time.
